im starting to get my winter blues...you know, being from an island really sucks when you move to a place that has real seasons...i get moody, im exhausted all the time and am usually so wrapped up in retail holiday that im just all work all the time...ive even fallen a bit off of my beloved new crochet hobby...eh, ill get over it....i always do...once valentines floor set hits, i snap out of all this crap ;)

the girls went to get their flu shots today...interestingly enough Phoenix cried for about 45 secs and whined for about 5 mins. MAYA DIDNT EVEN CRY! in fact, she seemed to be smiling behind her binky...it was wierd. then they both passed out in the car so hard that when we got them out of their car seats they barely woke up and went straight down for a 2 hour nap...

also a couple of weeks ago we handed phoenix a sippy cup and she just suddenly decided it was cool...so weve been completely bottle free for almost a month...im really proud of her, i know that was a tough switch for her. she is almost walking independently...she took a few steps on her own the other day...i know she can do it...its just a confidence thing.

both of the girls can go up the stairs (with us very closely behind them, of course!)Maya is walking like a crazy person and can even walk and drink from her sippy cup at the same time (which some adults cant even do :P )

thanksgiving was pretty good...it was just brad and me and courtney (and the girls of course)...so we had one regular feast and one vegan feast. the girls ate pumpkin pie, green bean casserole, turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes & mashed potatoes all the following week...they really loved my cream cheese pumpkin pie :P (but who wouldnt?) and my turkey came out fabulous as per usual :)

That's All

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last week I set lilith70's puppy on fire (-66 points). Last month I gave mulderist a wet willie, then I took it back (-5 points). In November I helped shannonanna see the light (8 points). In July I invaded Iraq, broke it, and couldn't glue it back together before Mom got home (-1012 points). In September I gave taintedlove01 a life-saving blood transfusion (50 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-1025 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

so brad decided that i needed a hobby badly...besides work...yes work was (is) my hobby...

so i know how to crochet...i just dont usually do anything with it...so i learned a simple pattern to make baby longies (pants) which is cool because if i make them out of wool they double as a leak resistant diaper cover! and i feel like im doing something good because im making something with a real purpose and for my girlies...

needless to say im now addicted and went to michaels last night after finishing my first pair and bought 4 different types of yarn to make 4 more pairs...its surprisingly easy and rewarding...and stress reducing...

brad was right, i did need a hobby...the only problem now is getting my ass off the couch and stop crocheting to clean and do other things!

check out some pics i took today of the girls i will get halloween pics up laters....

so maya has been walking...phoenix is content to crawl...i know she can do it, she is just such a cautious baby, she just doesnt feel confident enough yet. Phoenix got her back top teeth, so she has a total of 10...maya has 4 coming in but they are still just swollen red areas. sippy cups have been a battle...maya has taken to it quite quickly and can even drink from a regular cup with assistance, however phoenix just hates the sippy cup. i think it might have to do with her teething and hopefully with some diligence she will adjust soon. yesterday brad changed mayas diaper and put her on the floor...then he changed phoenix, by the time he finished phoenix maya had her pants and diaper off....she is such a crazy little girl...

ok so enough baby stuff! work has been crazy. i went to orlando for my holiday meeting and that was fun! i got to see my boys from college and go to dinner at Roy's my favorite restaurant ever! for some reason my flight wasnt scheduled until 705pm on thurs, when our meeting got out weds at 445pm. everyone else flew out weds night or thurs morning...so i got to kick it orlando all thurs afternoon. i went to see Stardust (which was awesome) and i had lunch by myself at a restaurant for the first time (luckily i had my chuck palahnuik book Rant with me to keep me busy). it was a nice relaxing day however i would have rather spent it at home with my family. i had to work the friday i got back and we did a RIDICULOUS amount of $$ that weekend. between friday and saturday we did as much as we typically do in 1 week (on the small side)! today is the last day of the quarter and i am expecting a pretty hefty bonus! WHOOO! im going to use the majority of my bonus check to get brads back piece finished, FINALLY!

brad is at a magic tournament today...so im home, taking care of babies and making baby food...its been a long time since i have spent this much time with girls all by myself so this should be pretty interesting...im just not as schooled in baby wrangling as brad is since he does it everyday.

so first off thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday today...

so this morning brad and i went to the cottonbabies store since i had a gift cert from jason for the girls birthday, and i had a coupon only good in store AND i had 16 AIO cloth diapers that all had shot elastic :( i had emailed them about it and they said to bring them in and they would see what they could do...i was hoping for maybe half credit or instructions on how to replace the elastic myself, BUT instead they gave us 16 FREE NEW AIO's in exchange! obviously exciting! we bought some toys and other goodies for the girls as well...

then, i went to the SPA for a facial and a massage....all i have to say is AWESOME!

then i came home for another suprise! brad got a babysitter and we went out to dinner at this awesome restaurant that is literally walking distance from our house, Neruda. dinner was awesome.

i also got a sweet gift cert from courtney, nate and their mom to the limited and i spent it all already :) and some cute stuff from my mom as well...

in other news...work is going fantastic...i was chosen to go to our holiday meeting early to assist in running it with all the DSMs...ill be there for 4 days...and rumor has it that my regional is getting us some pretty sweet gifts to say thank you for all our hard work in atlanta :)

the girls had their 1 yr appt a few weeks ago and they are huge...as we suspected! Maya was 30in and 21 lbs (in the 75-90th percentile for height) Phoenix was 29in and 21 1/2 lbs....Maya is a string bean and Phoenix is a little more stocky like her mom ;) they are working on walking and are getting into everything! their favorite toy is tissue paper from their birthday presents...we keep it in their toy box and they love to crunch and tear it....Maya has become a bit of a daredevil trying to climb and play with everything at the same time (she loves to clap and give high fives)...while Phoenix is more mild mannered and affectionate (she loves to hug and give kisses) they are so adorable...i seriously promise to post pics soon...work has just been a little crazy...

brad started school and the girls have been staying with home with his little sister Kelly, this is the first time the girls have really stayed with someone for more than just an hour, plus she has to do their bedtime routine and dinner...everything has been going smoothly, no separation anxiety or anything so far :)

so thats about it... i will seriously try and get pix up soon....

(edit: i uploaded 4 pics on the flickr account http://www.flickr.com/photos/falkonn)
03 August 2007 @ 06:13 pm
so today was the girls first birthday...their party is tomorrow..ill post some pix i promise...

we got them baby jade bracelets and little bell bracelets (which is more traditional in HI)...they love them...they jingled their wrists all day...ive been preping for their party all day...and i picked up jason from the airport!

I ALSO GOT....A NEW WASHER AND DRYER! for my birthday coming up later on in the month...its the Kenmore Elite 4...so awesome, i can customize my wash settings for the cloth diapers and it is also more energy efficient...

I ALSO got a call from my boss today and i have to go to ATLANTA (!) for 3 days to do some staff/store set up...sort of...its clean up duty apparently...either way the president will be there as well as the VP and my Regional manager and a corporate trainer...its a great opportunity for me to flex my muscles pretty much and im really really excited...i leave on sunday!
but right now manapua is overriding the book since im eating it right now...

i finished book 7 last night...stupid work kept trying to get in my way of reading...but i came out victorious....
seriously that is a really really good book...i think it is my new favorite...

my mom gets here tomorrow with her friend joann catsos....they are here for a basket weaving convention/girls birthday...my dad flys in on friday! which means...i have to go to the store again today to get lots of "guest" food since all 3 of them are staying our house for a while...

anyway...im off to the store!

brad and i went to Whole Foods this morning with liquidink and todd....we had a great time...i bought so much food for the girls its not even funny...not only did i get the jarred stuff but ingredients to make a bunch of other fun stuff for them...i like to try and make everything in one day and then freeze so i dont have to do it very often...id say once a month...

it is ridiculous the amount of joy having a fridge full of fresh produce and delicious treats brings me...im making brad dinner tonight-which i havent been able to really do in a while since work has been a little out of control (thanks to liquidink leaving the company) :(

Maya and Phoenix are doing tons of awesome adorable stuff...they both stand up from a sitting position with assistance, walk on their knees, and crawl like crazy babies. Maya claps and waves hi, while Phoenix loves to give Kisses. no new words yet still the same babbles, although they both babble with more complex sounds like they are trying to speak in sentences.

Their 1st Birthday is coming up in 2 weeks so im finishing up a lot of the preparations...i ordered these really adorable dresses from chinasprout.com...they are red/pink with gold double happiness symbols all over them and i got them really cute little chinese slippers. i still have to work out the menu...im going to be cooking all asian/hawaiian "local" foods...i know im going to make kalua pig with cabbage, haupia, spam musubi, korean style BBQ and taro bread...im thinking about lomi lomi salmon and im going to order fried noodles from a good chinese place... the girls birthday cake is going to be a homemade honey carrot cake with honey cream cheese frosting...

i got my copy of harry potter when i got home from work last night, so naturally ive been reading it...im about half way through...i hope to finish it by tuesday...stupid work interfering with my reading!

today i also....can you guess....made up another baby food recipe! HOW DID YOU KNOW!? i converted it from a recipe in one of my recipe books at home...i havent tried it out on the girls yet...but brad gave it the thumbs up and he seems to have a pickier pallet...

*EDIT: 6:00pm- the girls had it for dinner and loved it! WHOO! GO MOMMY!
Moroccan Lamb Stew: Baby Style!Collapse )
